From the <a title=\"To the Summit webpage (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.citizencyberscience.net\/summit\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">event webpage<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The London Citizen Cyberscience Summit is a great chance for scientists and citizens to learn about the <strong>latest breakthroughs<\/strong> in citizen cyberscience. It will be a unique opportunity to brainstorm about how <strong>new technologies<\/strong> can enhance citizen cyberscience. A bold ambition of the summit is to draft a <strong>citizen cyberscience manifesto<\/strong>, involving all the stakeholders in the field.&#8221; <a title=\"To the conference website (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.citizencyberscience.net\/summit\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.citizencyberscience.net\/summit\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a title=\"To the programme (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.citizencyberscience.net\/summit\/CCC-programme.htm\" target=\"_blank\">The programme<\/a> offers a series of presentations collected into four themed sessions, as well as two panel discussions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Citizen Cyberscience, Past Tense<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Historical examples of citizen science, distributed computing and distributed thinking.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Citizen Cyberscience, Present Tense <\/strong><br \/>\n<em>A survey of some of the latest results from citizen cyberscience projects<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Citizen Cyberscience, Future Tense <\/strong><br \/>\n<em>New projects in the pipeline, from all around the world: short pitches by young researchers<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Citizen Cyberscience, Conditional Tense<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>The potential impact of new technologies and social networks on citizen cyberscience<\/em><span><strong> <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><strong>Panel Session:<\/strong><\/span><strong> The Anatomy of Citizen Cyberscience<\/strong><em><\/em><br \/>\n<em>A panel of citizen cyberscientists describe why they volunteer  their time for science projects, what they\u2019ve learned from it, and how  social networking helps science.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><span><strong>Panel Session:<\/strong><\/span><strong> A Manifesto for Citizen Cyberscience <\/strong><br \/>\n<em>A discussion about the future of the field<\/em><br \/>\nA selection of scientists and citizens from around the world  discuss and debate where they think citizen cyberscience should go, and  how it might get there.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Among the speakers and projects presenting at the Summit are David Anderson (<a title=\"To the SETI@home website (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/setiathome.berkeley.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">SETI@home<\/a> project &#8211; <span>Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence)<\/span>,\t<a title=\"Wikipedia article about Dyson (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/George_Dyson_%28science_historian%29\" target=\"_blank\">George Dyson<\/a> (author of &#8216;Darwin Among the Machines: The Evolution of Global Intelligence), Myles Allen (<a title=\"To the climateprediction.net website (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/climateprediction.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">ClimatePrediction.net<\/a> &#8211; produce and test climate predictions and models), Tom Humphrey (<a title=\"To the Herbaria@home site (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/herbariaunited.org\/atHome\/\" target=\"_blank\">Herbaria@home<\/a> &#8211; digitising and documenting the archives of the UK&#8217;s herbaria), Nicolas Maire (<a title=\"To MalariaContorl.net (new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/malariacontrol.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">MalariaControl.net<\/a> &#8211; simulation modelling of malaria), and many more.
