{"id":251,"date":"2010-04-29T09:10:03","date_gmt":"2010-04-29T08:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oucs.ox.ac.uk\/runcoco\/?p=251"},"modified":"2010-04-29T09:10:03","modified_gmt":"2010-04-29T08:10:03","slug":"workshop-oxford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/runcoco\/2010\/04\/29\/workshop-oxford\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Community Collections Workshop: Oxford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">Registration is now open for the free RunCoCo workshop: How to Run a Community Collection Online on <em><strong>Weds 26 May 2010<\/strong><\/em> in Oxford.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">This training workshop is free of charge and open to anyone from the education\/public sector who is interested in community collections (like <a title=\"The Great War Archive\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oucs.ox.ac.uk\/ww1lit\/gwa\">The Great War Archive<\/a>) or working to harness a community to enrich an existing collection with tags or comments (like <a title=\"Galaxy Zoo 2\" href=\"http:\/\/www.galaxyzoo.org\/\">Galaxy Zoo<\/a>). The workshop will:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>Be a chance for managers and others from community collection projects to <strong><em>share best practice and exchange knowledge<\/em><\/strong>, in particular we hope to attract a mixture of delegates from long-running community projects as well as, for example, newer projects like those funded under <a title=\"Grant 13\/09: BCE, e-Content and Digitisation programmes: Developing community content\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jisc.ac.uk\/fundingopportunities\/funding_calls\/2009\/12\/1309bce.aspx\">the recent JISC calls for developing community content<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Provide you with details of the <strong><em>processes, open-source software and results<\/em><\/strong> of <a title=\"The Great War Archive\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oucs.ox.ac.uk\/ww1lit\/gwa\">The Great War Archive<\/a>, a pilot community collection project based at OUCS and the English Faculty, which ran for 3 months in 2008.<\/li>\n<li>Be an opportunity to hear from a number of projects such as Citizen Science, <a title=\"Galaxy Zoo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.galaxyzoo.org\/\">Galaxy Zoo<\/a> and <a title=\"East London Lives 2012\" href=\"http:\/\/eastlondonlives2012.net\/\">East London Lives 2012<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/infostudies\/andrew-flinn\/\">Dr Andrew Flinn, UCL<\/a> and Chris Batt OBE, author of <a title=\"Digitisation, Curation and Two-Way Engagement\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jisc.ac.uk\/publications\/documents\/digicurationfinalreport.aspx\">Digitisation, Curation and Two-Way Engagement<\/a>. The JISC Strategic Content Alliance will lead a Q&amp;A surgery on the issues surrounding <a title=\"JISC SCA\" href=\"http:\/\/sca.jiscinvolve.org\/ipr-publications\/\">copyright and IPR<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The meeting will be held 10.00am &#8211; 5.00pm, at OUCS, 13 Banbury Road, Oxford OX26NN.
