Some 200 participants were treated to a series of talks introducing new digital resources and showing how these can be used in research and teaching.\u00a0 Kate Lindsay (Manager for Education Enhancement, Academic IT, Oxford) \u00a0gave a much appreciated presentation of our work \u2018Embedding Community Collections within the Community\u2019, and the team were approached by a number of people who wanted to talk about how they could implement our methods or use the Oxford Community Collection Model.<\/p>\n<p>The new<a title=\"To the Europeana 1914-1918 website (new page\/tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.europeana1914-1918.eu\" target=\"_blank\"> Europeana 1914-1918 platform<\/a> was launched at the event, and received a lot of attention also outside the conference. About 50,000 people visited the site in the first three days since its launch. The site offers access to digitized films from the period, institutional cultural heritage and official records alongside thousands of stories shared by the general public, illustrated with digital images of objects, letters, personal diaries, photographs, and other items from the period of the First World War (<a title=\"To blog post about the new platform\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/runcoco\/2014\/02\/06\/new-ww1-material\/\">see also separate blog about the site<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The conference was held at the Berlin State Library which also opened its doors to members of the public who wanted to share their First World War stories and objects. The Europeana 1914-1918 project has been using the successful <a title=\"Read about the Oxford Community Collection Model (new window\/tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/runcoco\/2013\/06\/24\/the-oxford-community-collection-model\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oxford C<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/eet\/files\/2014\/02\/IMG_2209sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"IMG_2209sm\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/eet\/files\/2014\/02\/IMG_2209sm-300x214.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/a><a title=\"Read about the Oxford Community Collection Model (new window\/tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/runcoco\/2013\/06\/24\/the-oxford-community-collection-model\/\" target=\"_blank\">ommunity Collection Model<\/a>\u00a0 to collect stories and images across Europe, combining online mass crowd-sourcing with interactive \u2018roadshows\u2019.
