{"id":5821,"date":"2017-06-02T10:33:55","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T09:33:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/?p=5821"},"modified":"2017-06-02T10:33:55","modified_gmt":"2017-06-02T09:33:55","slug":"advanced-options-for-embedding-replay-lectures-in-weblearn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/2017\/06\/advanced-options-for-embedding-replay-lectures-in-weblearn\/","title":{"rendered":"Advanced options for embedding Replay lectures in WebLearn"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5761 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/636028887100520000_largelogo-e1493818018518.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"91\" \/>Lecture Capture (Replay)<\/h2>\n<p>See our earlier <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/5721\">post about how to add the Replay tool to a WebLearn site<\/a> (which provides access to the Panopto web site (where\u00a0the recordings are hosted) via the &#8216;Recorded Lectures&#8217; link\u00a0on the left hand menu).<\/p>\n<p>The same post also describes how to link to\u00a0an entire Replay folder\u00a0from within the Lessons tool.<\/p>\n<p>We have recently been alerted to that fact that advanced options are available (called &#8216;Custom Parameters&#8217;), which enable the following possibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>linking to multiple Replay folders from a single WebLearn site<\/li>\n<li>embedding one individual\u00a0recording within a Lessons page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In both cases, one must supply the desired URL\u00a0of the folder (or recording)\u00a0in the &#8216;Custom Parameters&#8217; box\u00a0(see later).\u00a0(A better method for doing this will become available &#8211; hopefully during summer 2017.\u00a0This will be based on the open standard referred to as IMS LTI Content Item Message. Work needs to be done by the Panopto suppliers in order to achieve this alternative method.)<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/multiple-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5859\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/multiple-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"508\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/multiple-1.jpg 508w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/multiple-1-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t done so already, add the Replay tool to your site (via &#8216;Site Info&#8217; &gt; &#8216;Manage Tools&#8217; &#8211; the Replay tool is at the bottom of the list).<\/p>\n<h2>Linking to more than one Replay folder on a single WebLearn site<\/h2>\n<p>In the &#8216;Site Info<em>&#8216;<\/em> tool select &#8216;External Tools&#8217;; then select the &#8216;Tool Links&#8217; tab and click on &#8216;Create Tool Link&#8217; and select the <em>Replay<\/em> tool from the drop down menu.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/create-tool-link.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5837\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/create-tool-link-1024x409.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/create-tool-link-1024x409.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/create-tool-link-300x120.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/create-tool-link-768x306.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/create-tool-link.jpg 1243w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Add a name for the &#8216;Button Text<em>&#8216;<\/em> link and in the &#8216;Custom Parameters&#8217; box type \/ paste<\/p>\n<pre>redirect_url=<em>https:\/\/ox.cloud.panopto.eu\/Panopto\/Pages\/Viewer.aspx?id...<\/em><\/pre>\n<p>but replace everything to the right of the equals sign with the URL of the folder\u00a0you wish to link to.\u00a0Refer to the <a href=\"#finding-replay-url\">How to find the Replay URL<\/a> section of this document for details on finding URLs &#8211;\u00a0you can repeat this process for each folder that you wish to link to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/week1a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5855\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/week1a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"510\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/week1a.jpg 510w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2017\/05\/week1a-300x235.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nBe sure to check the &#8216;Add Site Link&#8217; box to enable this named tool to appear in the left-hand menu. Remember to click &#8216;Save&#8217;!<\/p>\n<p>Repeat the process in order to add links on the left-hand tools menu to other\u00a0Replay folders:<\/p>\n<h2>Linking directly to a single video<\/h2>\n<p>There has long been the need to be able to link to one particular Replay video in much the same way as one can present a link to a YouTube video.<\/p>\n<p>You can display a link to the video in the WebLearn site in one of two ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the left-hand side tools menu; or<\/li>\n<li>In a Lessons page\u00a0\u2013\u00a0this is useful from the teaching and learning point of view, when you want to link to\u00a0one particular video in your Lessons page, that is relevant to the current topic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In either the Lessons tool (edit the previously-added &#8216;External tool&#8217;)\u00a0or in &#8216;Site Info&#8217; &gt; &#8216;External Tools&#8217;,\u00a0\u00a0insert the following &#8216;redirect URL&#8217;\u00a0in the &#8216;Custom Parameters&#8217; box:<\/p>\n<pre>redirect_url=<span style=\"color: #339966\"><em>[ --- insert the Replay URL here --- ]<\/em><\/span><\/pre>\n<p>Refer to the\u00a0following section of this post for details on finding URLs &#8211;\u00a0you can repeat this process for each recording that you wish to link to.<\/p>\n<h2>How to find the Replay URL<\/h2>\n<p>By default (in the absence of any Custom Parameters) a link to Panopto will take the user to the parent folder corresponding to the current WebLearn site;
