You must make any changes to settings, as well as any grade changes, in the <strong>Assignments<\/strong> tool. The <strong>Markbook<\/strong> tool simply collects the marks automatically &#8216;behind the scenes&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Although you can choose letter grades, points, pass\/fail, tick mark, or unmarked assignments when creating an assignment, if you are using <strong>Markbook<\/strong>, then you need to set the marking system in <strong>Assignments<\/strong>\u00a0to <em>Points<\/em>; this is the only marking system that enables calculations to take place in the <strong>Markbook<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Marks you assign for an individual assignment do not display in the <strong>Markbook<\/strong> (even for the instructor) until you release the grades or return a grade to a student from the <strong>Assignments<\/strong> tool.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Useful links:<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/weblearn.ox.ac.uk\/x\/6t8P3Z\" target=\"_blank\">Assignments step-by-step guide<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/weblearn.ox.ac.uk\/x\/cKJYs8\" target=\"_blank\">Assignments demo video clips<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following tips emerged from the lunch time session WebLearn Bytes: Assignments on 12 November 2013: If you are using Assignments with the Markbook tool, do all assignment creation, editing, marking and removal\u00a0 in the Assignments tool.
