{"id":2996,"date":"2013-10-14T12:02:41","date_gmt":"2013-10-14T11:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/?p=2996"},"modified":"2013-10-14T12:02:41","modified_gmt":"2013-10-14T11:02:41","slug":"how-to-display-public-tweets-in-a-weblearn-page","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/2013\/10\/how-to-display-public-tweets-in-a-weblearn-page\/","title":{"rendered":"How to display public tweets in a WebLearn page"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you used Twitter&#8217;s feed to display public tweets in WebLearn, you may notice that it has stopped working.\u00a0 This is not caused by WebLearn but by a change in Twitter which no longer supports RSS feeds.<\/p>\n<p>This blog post demonstrates how you can display public tweets from any user by using the Twitter Timeline.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Generate HTML code in Twitter <\/b><\/h3>\n<p>1. Log into your Twitter accou<span style=\"color: #000000\">nt, (if you haven&#8217;t already done so, you will need to create one).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>2. Go to <b>Settings<\/b> and select <b>Widgets<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2998 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" alt=\"wl-6\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-6.png\" width=\"522\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-6.png 580w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-6-300x191.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/a>3. On the Widgets page click the button <b>Create new<br \/>\n<\/b><br \/>\n4. By default, the <b>User timeline<\/b> widget is created for you.\u00a0 You can see\u00a0 the look and feel of the tweets under <b>Preview<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>4.1\u00a0 You can configure the page to change the look and feel of how the tweets are displayed in the WebLearn page.\u00a0 Once you are happy with the configuration, click <b>Create widget<\/b><\/p>\n<p>4.2\u00a0 If you want to display tweets from a different Twitter account, simply change the username under <strong>Configuration<\/strong> and click on <strong>Save Changes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3032 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" alt=\"wl-9\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-9.png\" width=\"752\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-9.png 835w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2013\/10\/wl-9-300x177.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Log into WebLearn<\/p>\n<p>7. Go to <b>Resources <\/b>to create a HTML page<\/p>\n<p>8. Click <b>Source<\/b> to switch to source view, and then paste the HTML code that you copied from the Twitter widget.\u00a0 Click <b>Continue<\/b>.<span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 Note: you can also insert other content including text and images here to provide the context of the tweets. Provide a suitable page title and click <b>Finish<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Link the page from the course menu on the left <\/b><\/h3>\n<p>10.
