A common problem is that the URLs get split when included in email messages.<\/p>\n<p>The URL of a site (or tool within a site) can also become pretty long for sites which lie deep within the site hierarchy.<\/p>\n<p>Because of this we have added the ability to generate a &#8216;Short URL&#8217; in a number of places within WebLearn. We plan to add more instances of this facility in the future.<\/p>\n<p>If the URL is to be pasted into an email message then it is still good practice to enclose it in angle brackets, for example &lt;https:\/\/weblearn.ox.ac.uk\/x\/t1k1&gt;<\/p>\n<h2>Short URLs for files in Resources<\/h2>\n<p>To locate the Short URL for a file or folder within Resources, navigate to the &#8216;Edit Details&#8217; page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/edit-details.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1734\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/edit-details.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"794\" height=\"276\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/edit-details.png 794w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/edit-details-300x104.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 794px) 100vw, 794px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then select the &#8216;Short URL&#8217; facility and copy the address.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/shorturl.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1735\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/shorturl.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"603\" height=\"311\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/shorturl.png 603w, https:\/\/blogs-new.it.ox.ac.uk\/adamweblearn\/files\/2012\/06\/shorturl-300x154.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Short URLs for sites and tools within a site<\/h2>\n<p>Every page within a site also has a short URL.
